Becoming A Mason
Masonry is considered a journey that lasts a lifetime. As the worlds first, and oldest fraternity, Masonry offers members an amazing opportunity to explore new friendships, history, community, and philanthropy. All members have a calling to fulfill the three great principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
Brotherly Love - We respect the backgrounds and diversity of all our members. We recognize the value and worth or many viewpoints. Our bond transcends religious, educational, generational, and ethnic boundaries.
Relief - We make it a point to take care of our members, families, and communities. We consider their well being to be a priority.
Truth - We consider truth to be at the center of our personal conduct. A guide to choose our paths with, and a calling to pursue knowledge.
It is not the tradition of our fraternity to solicit membership. Membership requires perspective candidates to ask for and submit a petition. The requirements the candidate must meet are:
- Be of good character.
- Be a man.
- Have a belief is a Supreme Being. (The details are left to you)
- Be 18 years of age, or older.
- Have lived in the State of California for at least one year.
Masonry and Helpful Links
Modern Freemasonry is a descendant of the ancient Stonemason guilds of Europe. These ancient guilds formed as a way for skilled men to obtain work, refine their craft, and form community.
In the 1700’s the first Grand Lodges began to appear and the the guilds started to move from Operative Masons (actual craftsman) to Speculative Masons. Speculative Masons use the tools and ceremonies of Masonry to build relationships, and pass down lessons with the goal of becoming better men.
